One award can close two criteria: taking part as a laureate — “awards”; sitting on the jury — “judging”. The officer checks whether the award has selection, a known jury and open criteria. The catalogue has awards and competitions in Russia, the CIS and internationally, with the next ceremony dates; we match those that fit your field and level, and we do not recommend awards that will not stand up to review.

A denial on EB-1A or NIW: do you refile, ask for reconsideration, or appeal - and how do you read the denial notice?

A denial notice is written in the same language as a request for evidence, and that is the main clue: the officer explains what was missing - so the next petition can be built from it. You have 33 days for a motion or an appeal, and unlimited time for refiling, but the choice is not emotional. It turns on two questions: where the officer went wrong, and whether the priority date matters to you. The answers are different for EB-1A and for NIW. We set out all three paths, with the figures. Recommendation letters for EB-1A, NIW, and O-1: who should write them, what goes inside, and why do letters from colleagues not work?

Nine letters from supervisors, colleagues, and friends in the field - and one from a professor the applicant had never met. In an RFE (Request for Evidence), the officer called the nine "letters from interested parties" and cited the tenth as proof of the contribution. That is how the most undervalued document in a petition works: a letter is worth something not because a well-known person signed it, and not because of how many there are, but because of the author's independence and the facts inside.
